Lately it seems that whenever I start a blog post I don’t finish it. And then of course it never gets posted. I have probably started 5 different posts in the last few weeks, but haven’t finished them. I have a good idea and start to map it out. I am not sure what happens next, but I don’t get around to finishing it.

It is my desire to share with you what God is doing in my life, to share the blessings, the hard times, and of course random musings! I want to share real life with you. As always, it is my goal to use my blog to be a light in the darkness. 

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

I am going to try to post a little more often! I know it will still be hit and miss, but I am hoping to get some more shorter posts on here. I am also going to share a few blog posts that were previously posted on the JOY Blog. I hope you enjoy!

Elusive Hope by MaryLu Tyndall Book Review



My review of Elusive Hope by MaryLu Tyndall 

Elusive Hope tells a story of a group of misfits that are trying to form a new colony. It deals with the basic struggles that any group would have when starting a new life together in the middle of nowhere. The only problem is that there is more than just those problems, there is something deeper, much deeper, that lies in the land. The people face a darkness that is there, a spiritual darkness. 

The main characters in the book, Magnolia and Hayden, also face many struggles. Magnolia is unhappy with being uprooted from her home and being brought along to start the new colony. She blames her father for taking her away from her comfortable, upper-class life. Magnolia has a hard time dealing with these changes. Hayden is also unhappy with his current situation. While it was his choice to go on the journey with the rest of the group to colonize this new land, he had ulterior motives. His true reason for going to Brazil is to look for his father, who he believes killed his mother. Hayden and Magnolia are each on their own journey, but get thrown together time and again. 

Will they find love or will they continue to butt heads at every turn? You will have to read the book to find out!

MaryLu Tyndall has a way of weaving a fun romance into a story. She also captures deep issues and the real life struggles of everyday life. I think you will enjoy the story and I would recommend it!

**The Story behind Valentine’s Day 

The story behind Valentine’s Day is that St. Valentine gave his life in the name of love and romance. Marriage had been outlawed because Emperor Claudius believed that soldiers would be able to focus on victory instead of their families. St. Valentine continued to perform marriages secretly for Christians. Valentine also helped Christians escape from the Roman jails where they were being tortured. When it was discovered that Valentine was marrying people, he was also put in jail. It is said that Valentine fell in love with the jailer’s daughter who brought food to him. He wrote a letter to her and signed it “from your Valentine”. Valentine did end up being put to death because of his strong Christian beliefs. He died on February 14. He lived his life for others and gave up his life for them, too.
