Father's Day 2016

I am thankful for my dad and the godly example he has been over the years. I saw this quote yesterday and wanted to share it.

"A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society."  -Billy Graham

Fathers have very important roles in their children's lives, even if they don't realize it.

Abby

Yesterday, June 17, 2016, a dear friend and sweet young lady went to be with Jesus. After almost a year of battling cancer, she is now cancer-free and pain-free, and is with her Savior. She will be missed by so many.

Last night, the sky was lit up in a beautiful sunset. Abby's theme was orange because that is the color for Luekemia. Here are a couple pictures I took and added some quotes to.

Look at that orange!

Summer is Here!

Yesterday was the start of summer for me! Parade season always seems to kick-off the summer for me and we walked in our first parade of the year (many more to come) for our state senator last night. I always enjoy walking in the parades and seeing all the people. We have met so many people through politics and it is always fun to see them!

All in all, yesterday was a great day. We started the day off by going to our state capitol. Franklin Graham's Decision America tour was finally in MN! It was a great rally with over 6,300 people attending!

Franklin Graham encouraged people to:
Pray.
Vote.
Engage.

It was also fun to see friends from around the state at this event, too. We saw senators, representatives, and candidates that are running for office come to this event and rally together as fellow believers. Truly a blessing to see!
Me and my sister by the tour bus!

After the rally, we headed home so we could get to the parade and stopped at Dairy Queen for a treat. After the parade, we also stopped at DQ! (We hadn't eaten supper and it was late and the only thing open!) Just another sign of summer in MN!

What are the signs of summer for you? Is it finally here for you?

Happy Flag Day!

Happy Flag Day!

Here is a picture of our flag flying today:

~~~ Did you know? ~~~
We celebrate Flag Day in the United States on June 14 because we are commemorating the adoption of our flag, which happened on June 14th, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.
National Donut Day 6/3/2016
Because it was national donut day yesterday, we had to have donuts!
(The picture is a little blurry, but we had to have some proof of the moment!)
Memorial Day Weekend 2016
A few things to share...
-This past week, I saw a picture on Facebook that described what Memorial Day is all about. I shared it on the Musings Facebook page if you want to see it:
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=985711064815372&id=436509829735501
It reminds us that this weekend is in memory of those who gave their lives for our country (and also tells what Veteran's Day and Armed Forces Day are all about).
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”
1 John 3:16 NIV
-Did you see the Chewbacca Mom this past week?
- Here is a fun quiz to see which Christian Fiction Author you are:
-Today, I got a CD in the mail from our radio! Remember I told how I got to tell about my sabbatical on the Christian radio station? Well, I got entered in to win their CD of the month!
-One more fun thing that happened this week, I reached over 10,000 all time page views here on Musings!
-Have a great weekend everyone and stay safe!
Plans for My Sabbatical
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to share on our local Christian radio station that I am taking a sabbatical. They were asking the question, "What are your plans for the summer?" I was excited to call in and share, except the fact that I kind of blanked on what all my plans are, except the sabbatical part!
So for everyone interested, here are some of my plans/goals:
  • Blog! So far, so good!
  • Continue to be politically active (lit drop, phone call, walk in parades, etc...)
  • Go to the Republican National Convention
  • Start an Etsy store
  • Travel (TX, NY, KY, OH, maybe more...)
  • Visit the Ark Encounter (So excited for this!!!)
  • Help plan our homeschool group's 25th year reunion
  • Volunteer with a student leadership camp
  • Write a magazine article
  • Attend Decision America in my state
  • Volunteer at church
  • Be there for friends/family who are going through tough situations
  • Find other ways to volunteer and look for ways that God can use me in people's lives
This is not a complete list... It is not all set in stone; some are plans, some are things I hope will happen and are more goals that I have. Mostly I want to be open to God's leading. I want to live in the moment and experience a lot. It is my time to go outside my comfort zone and see where God guides me.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
  What are your plans for the summer? Are you ready to go where God leads?
