College - Completed

The time I have been waiting for is finally here! Through the history of my blog here, I have given updates on my college adventures through CollegePlus! I finished CollegePlus! (the coaching) at the end of March. At that point, I had 2 more classes I needed to take and a science DANTE and a math course (ALEKS). A total of 12 credits. I had everything lined up and was ready to go. My courses ran 12 weeks, so my goal was to finish out my 2 classes and the other 6 credits before the end of June. I would then be able to apply for graduation by July 1, for the September graduation. The last 3 months flew by.

I planned on taking the science test towards the end of May. But...I didn't feel ready, so I put it off. Twice. I was looking into possible classes that I could take instead of the science test. While I was looking through the course list, I found a course that fit under the science requirement that was a computer course. I was reading the description and it was very similar to a course I had taken at a community college. At one point, I had asked that it be added to my general education credits, but at that point, the college had said it wouldn't work there. I asked the college again about this course and showed them the course description to the class that I had taken and sure enough they were able to switch the credits around. This made it so that I would no longer have to take the additional credits. I am thankful to God that He gave me the idea and made it possible for me use the credits I had already earned. He also made it so I didn't have to take the test I wasn't ready for. Praise the Lord! All the glory to Him!

With the science credits out of the way and almost being done with my classes, I had just one more hurdle to get over. Math. I have never been great at math. I would much rather write... So I wasn't getting my self-study math course done (it is a pay-by-the-month course). So I decided I would retake the College Math CLEP, which I had missed by just one point last time. Passing score is 50. Last time I got a 49. It was hard to miss by 1 point. This time, my mom suggested I try a tutor. So I did and was really helped by this. I felt much more encouraged after I went to the tutor. As a back-up, I did register for a math course just in case I didn't pass the test. I am very happy to announce that I did indeed pass the Math CLEP with a 56! Not only did I pass, but I got a much higher score than last time. I am very grateful to my tutor for helping me out and being willing to spend time working through the practice tests with me! Again, I give the glory to God. Without Him, I would not have been able to do.

At this point, I had finished up my courses and was now able to send in my application for graduation since I passed the CLEP! So I over-nighted my application to the college and I have now heard that they have received it. While I have not officially graduated, I am done with all my college credits! I am so happy and glad to have completed the credits I need. The college will now review all of the credits and such, but everything looks like it is good to go!

So yes! I have completed college!!! That season is over. I know God has great plans for me and I have confidence that He will guide me in this new season.

Thanks for all of your prayers throughout this season of my life!

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven...

P.S. I will let you know when it is all official!!!

So close, yet still out of reach - still waiting

This has been an interesting last year. Many things have happened and I had much going on. About a year ago, I committed to several different things. One was a year long job, another was finishing college (among other smaller commitments).

I think that the timing on these things are very interesting. Each of these things will be ending within the next month to two months.

As to college, I am 12 credits away from finishing. I am taking two classes that will end in June. And then I have a math class that I need to finish up and science DSST test that I need to take. 4 courses. 10 weeks. And then I have the summer stretching out in front of me...

I have big plans and big goals. There are many things that I want to do this summer. I want to minister to people, I want to be politically involved, I want a job, I want..., I want..., I want...

Yet with all my wants, hopes, goals, and plans, I know the most important thing is to follow God's will. I want to wait on Him and His plans. While I know I must continue to live my life, I must make goals and plan things out, I know God has a plan laid out. I am trusting Him in this situation. I truly believe He has big plans for me this summer, and this coming year. I have no idea what they are and they may not seem "big" to anyone else, but I know God is writing the story. I just pray that in living my daily life, that my life glorifies God (1 Cor. 10:31) and that I live out 1 Thess. 5:16-18.

In the mean time, I am waiting. (I love the lyrics of this song).

Give Thanks - 11/12/11

I give thanks for the 4, yes FOUR, college credits I earned yesterday!!! I was able to earn them through FEMA Independent Study Courses.

My college will accept some of these courses as college credit. I am not sure if other colleges do, but it may be worth checking into if you need electives.

So the 4 credits yesterday brings me a total of 9 credits earned through FEMA.

Credits still needed: 24

Earned credits that count towards my degree: 96

Yay!!!

I am thankful I am one step closer to my goal!

Psalm 42:4
These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God, with shouts of joy and thanksgiving among the festive throng.

Midterm Week

I am now done with midterm week. I have wanted to post all week, but I was waiting to get through this school week. This means I only have one more set of midterms (next term)!!! I had two midterms this week. Both included essay questions, so I don't have my grade on them yet...waiting....

College update!!!

Taking 12 credits right now. 3 courses and 1 TECEP*. 5 weeks left!!!

30 credits left, 42 if you count the ones I am taking now.

6 1/2 months left until I am done with courses.

8 1/2 months until graduation.

Those are my goals and Lord willing, I will complete them soon!!!

*A TECEP is a lot like a CLEP test or a DANTE test or a self-study course. You study during the semester and then take a test at the end, much like a final exam.

6 more credits down

I took the College Comp CLEP back in mid July. And I finally got my results from it in the mail yesterday!!!

I passed it! I now have all of my English credits fulfilled and I am 6 credits closer to graduation.

If you would like to learn more about CLEP exams, you can contact your college to make sure that they will accept them and you can also check out the CLEP website! They are just another way that can help  you to get through college a little faster and save you some money. Plus, you can study on your own time for these tests, schedule them, and take them when you want to.

Check them out!

I am working on earning a B.A. degree in Communications! I have about 50 some credits left to finish (out of 120). I hope to be able to graduate with my degree by June 2012. On my blog here, I will be posting updates, as I have time!

Right now I am taking 3 courses, 9 credits. I also plan on taking a few other credits during this time.

Back to studying!

College!

So as most of you know I am going through a program called College Plus. CP is a coaching program that helps you get a degree faster and for less (for sure!). I am really excited about finishing my degree through CP. If you would like more info, check out the link or comment below and ask :)

So, today was the day to decide what college I am going to go through. For the degree I want, a Communications BA, I could either get it at Bryan College or at Thomas Edison State College. There were a lot of deciding factors, including cost, time, and whether or not to go with the Christian education. But after prayer (thank you everyone!) and  weighing the deciding factors, I decided to go with........

Thomas Edison State College!

I decided this will cost me less and I will be able to just get it done faster.

Thanks again everyone for praying for me!
